Are you tired of being excited to start a new routine, only to quit a week later? Or maybe you’re so busy that when you do have free time, you’d rather plop down on the couch and zone out? I get it, I’m fighting it too!
Unfortunately, that’s no way to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Sometimes there has to be a little pressure to create significant change. And if you’re having trouble motivating yourself to get going, I’ve got great news.
You have the power to switch it around! It’s not just about willpower, or failure vs success. It’s the choice to be more proactive with your action plan, not reactive, and it makes all the difference. And you can increase your willpower with self motivation.
How to Increase Willpower With Self Motivation
Be Your Own Biggest Cheerleader
Root for yourself to win, not to fail. If you don’t truly believe that your aspirations are possible, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot before a race. Try catching yourself in the moment when you’re being negative, and turn it around with a few confidence affirmations. This consistent habit will condition your mind over time to have a more positive mindset and overall more self-confidence.
Listen to Your Gut
You know that tugging feeling in the pit of your stomach, when something just doesn’t feel quite right? For me, that’s a very familiar feeling, that I now call my intuition. Something I used to ignore, push out of the way, and overstep, but is now the guide and direction of how I live my life authentically. And ever since I let it take the lead, I’ve experienced successes, realizations, and real personal growth.
To make it anywhere, you have to take the first active step. You can plan every minute detail but it won’t matter if you don’t implement it. You are the driving force in your life and your goals will only thrive with your consistent work. Once you commit to following through, you’ll unintentionally fuel your own motivation and confidence to keep going. What a great way to work smarter, not harder!
